Rigid Thumbs for Excavators

Rigid thumbs also known as mechanical thumbs are universal style thumbs with their own main pin. Many have the pin and the strut luggging attached to a weld-on base plate. Some models are upgradeable to hydraulic later. Usually rigid thumbs have multiple position selection, plus a storage position so the thumb can be tucked up to the stick for standard digging.

Hydraulic Thumbs for Excavators

Hydraulic thumbs for excavators come in two basic styles - universal style with its own main pin and a weld-on base plate, or a shared-pin style thumb. Hydraulic thumbs require a dedicated two-way hydraulic circuit routed up the stick with pressure set approximately 70% of bucket curl pressure so the bucket will be able to overpower the thumb versus the opposite. The universal style advantage is ease of mounting and a much greatly reduced risk of pin failures.

An upgraded BRUT Hydraulic Thumb, the Powerbrute is a "universal thumb" meaning it has its own main pin, cylinder and weld-on base plate. Easy to install, it fits all nearly every size of loader/backhoes and excavators. Works with all buckets and quick couplers. Stores flat under the stick when not in use.
